This unwavering backing allows Israel to engage in aggressive military campaigns, knowing that it will face little international condemnation. As the conflict expands into Lebanon, Israel continues using similar tactics, confident that the U.S. and other Western nations will shield it. Constant Supply of Weapons and Diplomatic Shielding
During the war in Gaza, Israel relied heavily on a constant supply of American-made weapons, which enabled its military to conduct relentless airstrikes. Alongside this flow of arms, Israel received consistent diplomatic protection from the U.S., which blocked any significant efforts to hold it accountable in international forums. Now, in Lebanon, Israel expects the same treatment, and the U.S. continues to provide unwavering support. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, “at least 492 people were killed, and more than 1,600 wounded,” in Israeli airstrikes. While Israel claims it is targeting Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, these strikes have resulted in substantial civilian casualties, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Civilian Warnings and Indiscriminate Bombing
Israel has adopted a pretense of warning civilians before carrying out its airstrikes, a tactic that it employed extensively in Gaza. On Monday, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued warnings to thousands of Lebanese civilians, urging them to leave areas where Hezbollah was allegedly hiding rockets and missiles.
